The Green Mile has themes of crime, as it is set in a prison. Here we can see that in 1999 it made $136,801,374 total gross, ranking at number 15. The film includes a story, which gives the audience lots to think about and plenty of enigma, which is what many people like to see in a film. This explains why it was/is so popular. So, our group is going to concentrate on setting a story in our film opening, that would be continued in the rest of the film. Therefore, it will give the audience some enigma about the characters and what will happen in the rest of the film. 

Looking a this weekends box office data, we can see the Looper is ranked 18. It contains action and crime, so is similar to the genre we have chosen. So, looking at this data we can see that the genre 'crime' is still quite popular in cinemas.
